Detailed Itinerary

    DAY 1: PUERTO MALDONADO - COCHA CAIMÁN

    Upon your arrival in Puerto Maldonado, Peru’s Capital of Biodiversity, we will meet you at the airport; then it all starts with a bus tour around the city. Afterwards we will go to Puerto Capitanía to embark on a motor boat, and sail along the Bajo Madre de Dios river. During the trip, we will immerse ourselves in a fascinating natural environment, where we can observe ronsocos (capibaras), alligators, turtles, herons, cormoranes (typical birds of the area) and other animal species.

    Already in our hostel, you will be greeted with a delicious juice-mix of tropical Amazonian fruits, and led to your comfortable bungalow-style room. A delicious lunch will be waiting for you in our cozy jungle-style restaurant. Next, you will be led by our professional guide through a natural road towards Cocha Caimán, a small lagoon with abundant presence of black and white alligators.

    At the end of the afternoon, you will witness the spectacular sunset in the Amazon, an experience full of color in wonderful ranges and intensities.

    Upon returning to the hostel, a delicious dinner will be waiting, and there will be free time to share unforgettable moments in our bar, equipped with an excellent table games room and provided with all the drinks you could wish for.

    DAY 2: APU VICTOR LAKE – MIRADOR AMAZÓNICO – ISLA DE LOS MONOS

    Birds of this ecological paradise will sing to wake you up; a nutritious breakfast will provide you with the energy needed for a morning full of new experiences. After that, we will begin a hike to the depths of the forest, along natural paths, with bridges to cross the ravines and rivers. During the hike we can observe the flooded forest and a huge variety of flora and fauna; then you will arrive at the majestic Apu Victor lake, of crystal clear waters, surrounded by immense swamps and giant trees.

    Afterwards, we go up to the Mirador Amazónico (Amazon Gazer), from where we will enjoy a panoramic view of the lake, seeing parrots, macaws, toucans, and other typical birds such as the camungos, shanshos and herons; other animals, such as alligators, turtles, etc., and we can also observe the giant otter, one of the most spectacular species of the jungle. Back at the lodge, a restful lunch will be waiting for us.

    In the afternoon, accompanied by our professional guide, visit to the Isla de los Monos (Monkey Island), a unique place in the heart of the Madre de Dios river, five minutes away from the hostel. During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes, with an exuberant flora, and also a fauna that includes a great variety of species of monkeys in their natural habitat, such as maquisapa, capuchino, leoncillo, fraile and also other species, like the coati and the oso perezoso (lazy bear) as well as a great variety of birds.

    Finally, we will complete our visit to the Isla de los Monos enjoying the sunset, with the most impressive sunset in the jungle; then return to the lodge and finishing the day with a nice dinner.

    DAY 3: COCHA PERDIDA - AMAZON GAZER

    After breakfast, we will begin an adventure through the jungle, and accompanied by a professional guide, we’re going hiking into the deep jungle to reach the Cocha Perdida, which is an ecosystem of shelter and food for an immense variety of animals. There we will see otters, alligators, turtles, sachavacas (tapirs), multicolored plumage birds, the majestic jaguar and a variety of fish. This area is unique and belongs to the Ecoamazonia Ecological Reserve that keeps it wildlife intact. Then, we will arrive at the extraordinary Mirador Amazónico, from which we can appreciate the wide and magical jungle. Afterwards, a pleasant boat trip around the lake and return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we can make a visit to the local Botanical Garden or if you prefer, you will have the option to relax at the Piscina Amazónica (Amazon Pool). Back at the hostel, you can enjoy an exquisite dinner and also a fun night in our bar. Then we will rest, surrounded by the magic sounds of the jungle.

    DAY 4: EXIT

    After a restful night, breakfast at the restaurant before returning to Puerto Maldonado; during the journey you can continue to appreciate the wonderful beauty of the Peruvian jungle!
