Tour Description

Wonderful tour through the Peruvian Amazon jungle and in particular the Manu National Park; after touring some Andean places in Cusco, we will arrive at the biosphere reserve of Manu, where we can admire typical animals, abundant flora and the spectacular geography of the region, also visiting rivers and lagoons on our boats, and meeting native Amazonian populations.

The tour starts in the city of Cusco visiting archaeological sites like Ninamarca and the typical village of Paucartambo; then we will head towards the Manu National Park where the first attraction will be the wonderful Cloud Forest. In the Amazon jungle we will travel on a motor boat to marvel at the huge variety of birds, felines, monkeys, tropical vegetation, rivers, lagoons and jungle landscapes, alternating with exciting hikes. It also includes a visit to the native village of Shintuya, where we can appreciate the famous Convent of the Dominicans. After 5 days of unsurpassed adventures we will return to the city of Cusco. Detailed Itinerary

  DAY 1: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - PILCOPATA

  To start our trip to the Manu National Park we will pick you up at your hotel between 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.; then we leave the city of Cusco off to the village of Paucartambo, but before we’re going to visit the archaeological zone of Ninamarca to know tombs of the pre Inca time, with a brief explanation by the professional guide.

  Once we reach Paucartambo we will visit the site museum and the Spanish colonial church; after an hour or so our tour bus will arrive at the highest point of the tour, Acjanaco, located at 4.000 meters asl ,which is the entrance point to the Manu National Park. There we will have another general explanation about the entire biosphere reserve of the Manu. The tour continues descending through the Cloud Forest, where we will take walks to look for flowers and typical birds. In the afternoon we will arrive to our first comfortable accommodation in the village of Pilcopata.

  DAY 2: PILCOPATA - ATALAYA - PAITITI

  The village of Pilcopata is located at 780 meters asl. Breakfast will be at 7:00 am, to continue our trip for another hour by bus, making stops where we will have the opportunity to visit the animal rescue house. Then we will arrive at the village of Atalaya, where we have to aboard a motor boat that will take us downstream to enter the tropical forest of Paititi. Our second lodge is also called Paititi and there we will sleep 2 nights. Arriving at the Paititi we will have our delicious lunch and in the afternoon a walk of 3 hours approximately, with the aim of being able to observe some types of monkeys, medicinal plants etc.

  In the evening after dinner we will hike about 1 hour, then sleep at the lodge.

  DAY 3: PAITITI - COLLPA DE LOROS - MARAVILLA PATH- COCHA MACHUWASI

  Very early in the morning we will go on our boat to the parrot spot for bird watching and later we will have the breakfast time with a few minutes to rest; after that we will have a walk for another 2 or 3 hours to continue looking for animals, plants, insects. For lunch we return to our Paititi accommodation and in the afternoon we will enjoy a wooden raft trip on lake Machuwasi; this is surely going to be a very interesting experience for the geography and exotic birds that this place presents. Then we will have another walk for about an hour, and after that go back to the lodge.

  DAY 4: PAITITI - SHINTUYA - AGUAS CALIENTES

  This day after breakfast we will go on our motor boat for a 3-hour trip along the Alto Madre de Dios river until arriving at the native village of Shintuya, where we can visit the Convent of the Dominicans; then we will make an excursion for 2 hours at the falls to later bathe in the medicinal waters near the village, with the aim of being able to relax and relieve some joints diseases. In the afternoon we will go back to our the Paititi lodge.

  DAY 5: PAITITI - ATALAYA - CUSCO

  After having enjoyed all the impressive flora and fauna of the Manu it will be time to aboard our boat back to Atalaya where we will be waiting for you in our transportation, which will take us back to the city of Cusco, arriving between 5:30 to 6:00 pm, which will finish our tour.
