Extraordinary hike of about 20 hours of walking in total with lots of adventure, contact with nature and wonderful landscapes; we will see the mighty Salkantay snow-capped (6.372 meters high) among others located in Cusco region Andes. We will also see rivers, valleys, typical villages, forests and the Hydroelectric of Machu Picchu to finally reach the Machu Picchu archaeological site for a 2-hour professionally guided tour in the citadel. An integral experience with the geography and history of this Andean region!

Travel by bus from the city of Cusco to the village of Mollepata, where a 5-hour hike begins; sighting of the snowy Huamantay and first camp in Soraypampa. After a 7-hour hike, encounter with the snowy Salkantay, considered as a sacred mountain since the time of the Incas; also the roads that surround it are Inca. On this walk we will appreciate closely its imposing glacier walls and we will know all its details; at the end of this day, second camp, in Chaullay. The tour then includes hikes and excursions through the Cloud Forest, the Vilcanota river and the Hydroelectric of Machu Picchu, to end with an unforgettable tour all around the citadel of Machu Picchu. Detailed Itinerary

    DAY 1: CUSCO - MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

    You will be picked up at the hotel at 5:00 am to start our journey to the valley of the Apurimac river by bus; the road is asphalted until Limatambo, and from there the road becomes a natural path on which we will travel for an hour, arriving after that to the village of Mollepata, where we will have our breakfast. From this point we will begin our 5-hour hike to the valley of the Blanco river, which comes from the snowmelts of the Salkantay and the Huamantay. Once we arrive in Soraypampa, we will have enough time to climb one more hour to the Turquoise Lagoon and the Huamantay snowy, and then return to our camp in Soraypampa.

    DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – CHAULLAY

    To begin our hike of approximately 7 hours, this second day we will have a very nutritious breakfast prepared by our expert cooks, given that the road is difficult for the very fact that we will go upwards to meet the Apu Salkantay, the point of connection with our Inca ancestors, before arriving at our next destination, the Chaullay camp.

    DAY 3: CHAULLAY - SANTA TERESA

    Continuing with the hike, this day we can all be more relaxed as the road will be through the Clouds Forest; walking down we will arrive at Santa Teresa, which is a small and tropical village located on the banks of the Vilcanota river. Once there, after a long walk we could enjoy a healthy and soothing bath in the thermal waters of Cocal Mayo.

    DAY 4: SANTA TERESA - AGUAS CALIENTES

    You will realize that the hike becomes easier since the route turns flat and light by the valley of the Vilcanota river towards the Hydroelectric of Machu Picchu; via the old train route, this section takes approximately 4 hours, and in the afternoon we will arrive at the village of Aguas Calientes, to a lodge where you will enjoy a calm and invigorating rest.

    DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

    Early in the morning, at 5:00 am we will start the trek to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World: Machu Picchu; after the entry the tour will begin, which lasts approximately 2 hours, led by a professional guide. Then you will have enough time to continue enjoying Machu Picchu, and afterwards we must go to the train station in Aguas Calientes and take the train back to Ollantaytambo, from where we will pick you up in a minivan to return to the city of Cusco, where our wonderful trip will end.
