Tour Description

Extraordinary adventure tour mostly consisting of hikes through beautiful regions of Cusco’s Andes; we will visit villages, archaeological sites, the majestic geography of the region and will camp on the Andean heights. The central moment of our tour will be at the archaeological site of Choquequirao, where a professional guide will explain for 3 hours about this important place of the Inca empire.

Departure from the city of Cusco by bus to the archaeological site of Tarawasi, 2- hour hike to the Capuliyoc pass at 2.800 meters asl, arrival to Rosalina beach, hike and finally camp in Sunchupata. 1- hour hike and then arrival to the Inca archaeological site of Choquequirao, where there will be a 3- hour visit led by a professional guide; return passing again by Rosalina beach, the Apurimac canyon, Qonoq thermal baths and finally back to the city of Cusco. Detailed Itinerary

    You will be picked up from the hotel in Cusco city at 6:00 a.m. to start the trip to the town of Cachora; on the way we will stop for a moment to appreciate the archaeological site of Tarawasi from the bus, and then continue to the Cunyac bridge between the states of Cusco and Apurímac. Then we will pass through the districts of Curawasi and Saywite to finally reach Cachora (at 10:00 am approximately). From here we will start our trekking along a gentle slope path to get to the Capuliyoc pass (2.800 meters asl) where we will have lunch after two hours of hike; then off to the village of Chiquisqa (1.930 meters asl). The whole downhill route will present us with a landscape that is really impressive and beautiful, with a warm weather. In this place we will set our first camp.

    After a refreshing breakfast at 5:00 am, we will continue our hike towards Playa Rosalina (1.550 meters asl), and then climb the slope very early to Santa Rosa (2.100 meters asl), place of our lunch. This route is the most difficult, which we will do in three hours, and then ascend to Maranpata (2.850 meters asl) which is a smoother climb; during this journey you will be able to appreciate the entire path of the first day and the wonderful vegetation that exists in this place. Then we will cross a straight section towards Sunchupata; in this place our camp will be set near the archaeological zone of Choquequirao.

    Very early after breakfast at 5:00 am, we will head to Choquequirao, an hour of hiking and then see the sunrise in Choquequirao; this site will be visited for three hours always led by a professional guide who will aptly explain about this important Inca refuge. At an indicated hour we will begin the return to Sunchupata and make a stop in Santa Rosa, where we will have lunch; and then we will descend to Playa Rosalina, which will take an hour. Finally we will go to the village of Chiquisqa for our camp.

    A nutritious breakfast will be served in Chiquisqa at 6:00 am and then we will continue our return to Cachora, admiring the impressive Apurímac canyon. In the afternoon we will go to the thermal medicinal baths of Qonoq where we will rest for an hour; then finally return to the city of Cusco to which we will arrive at 8:00 pm. There will be a transfer to the hotel, finishing our wonderful tour.
