In this tour the hike to Choquequirao happens already on the second day, since the first day will be of approaching and to visit towns and attractions that are in the route; guided visit to the archaeological site of Choquequirao with a duration of 3 hours. Ascent and visit to the Victoria mines, where we can observe the silver deposits of the place. We can also appreciate the enormous animal and vegetal biodiversity of the region; visit to the archaeological remains of Llaqtapata, and finally arriving at the citadel of Machu Picchu for a professionally guided tour of 2 hours and then climbing the Huayna Picchu, also located in the said citadel. Detailed Itinerary

    DAY 1: CUSCO - CACHORA - CHIQUISQA.

    We will pick you up from the hotel in the city of Cusco at 5:30 am to head towards the town of San Pedro de Cachora, where we will meet the people who will accompany us throughout the rest of the tour (cook, assistants, assistant guide). Then we will have a delicious lunch in the Capuliyoq area; at the camp of Chiquisqa there will be delicious fruits that grow in that area, in addition to a very refreshing bath.

    DAY 2: CHIQUISQA - CHOQUEQUIRAO

    After a nutritious breakfast we will start the trek to the archaeological site of Choquequirao; the entire hike will be uphill. Lunch will be near the peasant village of Marampata, arriving at our camp at around 5:00 pm; we will sleep in one of the ancient Inca terraces, from where, before, we will watch a beautiful sunset.

    DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO - MAIZAL

    Early in the morning we will visit the whole archaeological site of Choquequirao, with a professional guide for 2 hours. At about 10:00 am the hike continues; this day will be the most demanding because we will hike upwards throughout the day, passing through the rio Blanco area, where we will have lunch. The camp site is located 3 hours after lunch, in the Maizal area.

    DAY 4: MAIZAL - YANAMA

    This fourth day we will ascend for 3 hours; bordering Yanama we will descend and stop at the Victoria mines. As an extra activity you could extract some amount of silver there (a very abundant mineral in that area) because these mines are now abandoned. Lunch will be served in the surroundings of this place; then we will descend to our camp in Yanama.

    DAY 5: YANAMA - COLLPA

    The hike on this day will be moderate due to the the area’s geography; we will walk down by some slopes where we can appreciate an enormous biodiversity. We will have lunch in the area of Totora that is 3 hours away from the final camp; after lunch we will go to Collpa's camp, where we could find some local people selling sodas, batteries and other items.

    DAY 6: COLLPA - BEACH

    This day our walk will be very short but also very attractive, because we will have the opportunity to take a very refreshing swim in one of the wonderful waterfalls that descend from the mountain. In addition to this we will enjoy typical and delicious fruits like the granadilla; we will also walk through some coffee plantations and fruit trees, arriving at our camp at 12:00 am. We will have lunch at the camp and then there is going to be a free afternoon to relax.

    DAY 7: BEACH - AGUAS CALIENTES

    In the morning the hike begins by ascending a small hill that leads us to one of the archaeological sites dispersed around the area called Llaqtapata; in this place we will see a carved rock that was used for astronomical purposes in Inca times. Lunch will be served at the Hydroelectric area, place in which we will aboard the train to the village of Aguas Calientes, so we can spend the night at the hotel.

    DAY 8: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

    After breakfast we will aboard the bus to Machu Picchu; in this extraordinary archaeological site we will enjoy a wonderful tour led by a professional guide for 2 hours, after which there will be enough time to climb the Huayna Picchu mountain. In the afternoon we will start returning to the city of Cusco; a two-hour train ride will take us to Ollantaytambo, arriving there at 8:15 p.m and then going to the city of Cusco where the arrival will be at 10:30 pm.
